Journey to the White House Campaign Launched by
High School ‘Barack Obama Digital Media Team’
Visit With John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, the state-or the art multi-media recording studio on wheels in LA, Ignites Team’s Back-to-School Campaign Kick-Off
LOS ANGELES, CA. – September 17, 2009 – The Barack Obama Digital Media Team of Crenshaw and Dorsey High Schools of Los Angeles, CA and Apple Distinguished Educator Daphne Bradford announce the back-to-school kickoff of their Journey to the White House campaign to earn an invitation from President and First Lady Obama to visit the White House.
Sponsored by Mother Of Many, Crenshaw Barack Obama Digital Media Team members recently earned their first digital media certification in Apple’s award winning software application iLife, featuring iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband. The Crenshaw BarackBand wrote and produced a Journey to the White House theme song and the Barack Obama Student Digital Media team recorded video letters to the President aboard the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, the one-of-a-kind non-profit multimedia studio where Black Eyed Peas, Natasha Bedingfield and other recording artists have laid tracks.
“In line with the President’s urging that students take responsibility for their education and their lives, my students have studied through the summer as well as to organize themselves and engage with the work of the Health Care Reform effort. Having just earned Apple iLife certification, they will be using their skills to produce video letters to the President and First Lady,” said Team teacher Ms. Daphne Bradford, an Apple Distinguished Educator and founder of Mother of Many. Teachers, parents, community organizations and corporate partners showed their support encouraging President Obama to grant a personal White House invitation to the Barack Obama Digital Media Team. “I would like to give the President an iPhoto lesson and show him how we take pictures and create Podcasts,” says Crenshaw High School student Mia Henry who will receive her Apple iLife Certification Award on Thursday, September 17th. “I’d also tell him of my dreams to go to college so I can work with autistic children as a child psychologist,” says Ms. Henry.
