CRENSHAW HIGH SCHOOL BARACK OBAMA DIGITAL MEDIA TEAM
iLife at Crenshaw High School introduces students to the features and interface of Apple’s award winning multimedia software program iLife. iLife is a suite of digital authoring tools that comes with every Mac: iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iDVD, and iWeb.
The Barack Obama Digital Media Team learned to create media-rich digital projects, and share them online with a few clicks. The focused lessons cover organizing and sharing your photo library to creating polished video and soundtracks. Along the way, Students produce photo albums, movies, and music.
Digital Media Team student earned their first digital media certification in Apple Inc.’s iLife program. According to numerous Apple Education Representatives in Southern California, the student iLife Certification program at Crenshaw High School is the first of its kind in the Western region.
“This program definitely engages and retains students in the high school program. Not only does the Certification experience better prepare students for college and career, it also develops individual creative skills while fostering personal voice. iLife Certification facilitates powerful cognitive transitions as well – from being consumers of content to becoming talented and effective producers of knowledge and content,” states Apple Education Sr. Executive Michael Hoy .
What Students Learn: Organize and edit images in iPhoto; Edit and share movies with iMovie, turn your photos into cards, picture books, calendars, or a web gallery; Add motion and music to a slideshow, then publish it online; Create a video with polished transitions, music, and effects; Build a soundtrack in GarageBand, and learn to score a simple movie
